A security guard for Drakeo the Ruler who says he was working for the rapper in late 2021 alleges he saw YG with a knife during the brawl that took Drakeo's life. In a deposition from March 19, 2025, Alrick Cooper III claimed YG was front and center during the fight. Cooper says YG was one of three men carrying what appeared to be short, improvised knives.

Rapper YG had a run-in with cops Thursday morning during a SWAT response but was ultimately released. The Burbank Police Department responded around 7 AM PT. Cops were executing a search warrant for the investigation into Drakeo the Ruler's murder. The property is connected to YG, who had beef with the late rapper but has denied involvement. YG was not arrested, only detained during the search warrant and released. He was scheduled to perform that night against The Game in their Compton Forever VERZUZ battle.

Snoop Dogg's LLC asked a judge to grant summary judgment in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Drakeo The Ruler's brother, claiming the company had no involvement in the 2021 Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival operations and that Snoop was only a performer.
