A security guard who was working for Drakeo the Ruler at the time of his death claims he witnessed YG holding a knife during the December 2021 brawl that proved fatal for the rapper.
In a deposition dated March 19, 2025, Alrick Cooper III, part of Drakeo the Ruler‘s security team at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival on December 18, 2021, stated that YG was “front and center” during the altercation, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Cooper claims YG was among three men who were carrying what appeared to be short, improvised knives during the fight.
Cooper acknowledged he couldn’t see the man’s face, which was covered by a ski mask, but said he identified him by his hazel eyes, height, and demeanor, among other physical details.
The deposition surfaced in recent court filings, emerging just days before police executed a search warrant at a Burbank property connected to YG earlier this week.
YG was detained by police Thursday morning around 7 AM, though he was not arrested. He went on to participate in a Verzuz battle against The Game that same evening.
YG has consistently denied any involvement in Drakeo’s stabbing death. Requests for comment on these allegations have not yet yielded a response.
