We're not going to lie, 2025 was a tough year, as we lost many of the Black legends we knew and loved. Now, as 2026 rolls past the halfway mark, we continue to say goodbye to even more of those who had such a tremendous impact on the culture. Although they are gone, they will never be forgotten. BigXthaPlug found himself back in jail Friday after he was caught allegedly driving while intoxicated and possessing some marijuana. Online jail records show the Dallas-based rapper was booked into the Collin County Jail in Texas on Friday by the Allen Police Department. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession of less than 2 ounces, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Oral arguments in G-Unit Books' $1 million lawsuit against Shaniqua Tompkins have been rescheduled for Sept. 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Manhattan, moving up from the previously set date of Jan. 12, 2027. The dispute centers on a 2007 contract regarding exclusive rights to Tompkins' life story.

Nearly 30 years after rap icon Tupac Shakur was killed, the long-awaited trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis is finally underway. Prosecutors allege Davis, a former Los Angeles gang leader, planned the drive-by shooting in retaliation after Tupac beat Davis' nephew at the MGM Grand hours earlier. Davis is charged with organizing the hit, not pulling the trigger. He pleaded not guilty. The central battle involves whether Keffe D is finally telling the truth or has spent years telling increasingly dramatic stories for money and attention.

Tory Lanez's marriage will remain legally intact after a Los Angeles judge dismissed his wife Raina Chassagne's divorce case. Court records show Judge Nicole M. Heeseman dismissed Chassagne's petition in July after the former couple failed to move the proceedings forward.
