reality TV drama just got messier. Taylor Frankie Paul’s spilling tea about her time on the canceled ABC dating show, Bachelorette, and it’s giving layers. Turns out she got engaged while filming, then reconnected with her ex Dakota Mortensen after heading back home. This is the kind of love triangle energy that has people talking.
“‘Yes.’ Yes, I did [get engaged],” Taylor, 32, reveals in a preview from season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, per US Weekly. She told Jessi Draper, Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley that a contestant proposed during filming but didn’t name him in the clip—though the women seem to hint it was Doug Mason. The reality TV drama doesn’t stop there though.
“Obviously [me and ex Dakota Mortensen] were texting,” said Taylor. “‘When are you going to be home?’ I don’t know how it led to it but he came over.”
Mikayla quickly replied, “Umm … I think I know how that happened.”
The women also tease the similarities between Taylor’s mystery fiancé and Dakota.
“They have the same initials. They’re both from Idaho. It’s so weird,” Jessi then added.
Taylor responded, “I didn’t start thinking that until people said it around me.”
Here’s where things get real. The season never aired. ABC pulled Taylor’s Bachelorette run three days before its scheduled February debut while she and Dakota were involved in a domestic violence investigation in Utah.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office later declined to pursue criminal charges.
