Trump’s UFC White House Event Criticized

Sheryl Crow isn’t holding back. The legendary singer just called out President Donald Trump after a UFC event went down on the White House lawn, and her message is crystal clear.

At 64, Crow took to Instagram Stories to slam the UFC Freedom 250 event that happened at the White House on Trump’s 80th birthday. She didn’t mince words about what she witnessed, and honestly? The receipts are heavy. For more on Sheryl Crow and her activism, check the links.

“What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency,” Crow wrote. The UFC octagon setup was controversial enough, but things got worse when fighter Josh Hokit made a derogatory comment about former First Lady Michelle Obama during his post-match interview.

“Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment,” she continued. “All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and cost of living.” Real talk—she’s pointing out the disconnect between luxury spectacles and everyday struggles.

The Grammy winner doubled down on her message with the kind of clarity we need right now. “Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people. It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense and in spite of our democracy.” Crow’s been consistent in her stance, joining other iconic musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Jack White, and Tom Morello in speaking truth to power.

She wrapped up her statement with a rallying cry: “If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let’s be better, America.” That’s the kind of cultural meditation we need—artists using their platform to challenge what they see as wrong. This is what Black excellence and activism look like when you’ve got a voice and you’re not afraid to use it.
