Tyga has a message for everyone calling “$TARFACE” an A.I. album: learn to read.
The rapper stopped by BlkCosmo Live Thursday dressed in full ’80s regalia, cigarette in hand, to set the record straight. He only used A.I. for some synths and guitar solos, he explained. The rest? Three months in the studio, every song written by him, every vocal performed by him. That’s the clarification lost on people who didn’t actually read his initial comments about the project.
He blamed the noise on Gen Z not bothering to read his original comments, and took Pitchfork’s rare 0/10 rating in stride with a joke: “I don’t really know what Pitchfork is. All I know is the devil uses a pitchfork.”
When BlkCosmo host Harvey played Doja Cat’s blunt review—”Tyga is a penis for making an A.I. album”—Tyga couldn’t help but laugh. He fired back with a grin: “Listen, I love Doja, but she made a demonic album. But I still love her.”
On the broader A.I. question, Tyga sees it as just another piece of evolving technology. He’s not concerned about machines replacing him, pointing to his 15-year track record as proof that he’s better than anything an algorithm can cook up.
Whether he’ll use A.I. again remains undecided. He frames “$TARFACE” as an experiment—one that, whether intentionally or not, generated enough controversy to keep people talking.
