Congress Orders Donald Trump Administration To Release Jeffrey Epstein Files In Full By December 19, DOJ Releases Heavily Redacted Pages
Back in November, Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, demanding the Trump administration release *all* info on the convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, within 30 days. The bill sailed through both the House and Senate, getting Trump’s signature on November 19. It seems Pam Bondi and her crew at the Department of Justice are now catching flak for how that order played out.
The deadline hit on Friday, December 19. And guess what? The Trump administration dropped those Epstein files, but they were *heavily* redacted. Congress made it clear beforehand: only classified docs, victim identities, or active investigations were grounds for redaction. So, what’s good, fam?
DOJ Addresses Heavily Redacted Jeffrey Epstein Files, Accused Of Failing To Release All Documents
White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson had something to say about the release. She claimed:
“The Trump administration is the most transparent in history. By releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena request, and President Trump recently calling for further investigations into Epstein’s Democrat friends, the Trump Administration has done more for the victims than Democrats ever have.”
But hold up! Democrats and even some Republicans are calling out the Department of Justice (DOJ). They’re accusing them of straight-up violating their legal obligations. The DOJ initially said they couldn’t get all the documents out by the deadline.
And get this: within 24 hours of release, about 16 Jeffrey Epstein files vanished from the DOJ website. We’re talking photos of President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, FBI interviews with survivors, and DOJ memos on charges. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche later popped up, saying the DOJ pulled them to protect victims’ privacy. Hmm.
So while Deputy AG Todd Blanche is out here talking about privacy, lawmakers are seriously considering holding U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi in contempt of Congress.
Then, on Monday, December 22, Congresswoman Ro Khanna (D-CA) spilled some tea. She revealed that some Republicans are actually “on board” with possibly impeaching Bondi. This is all over the DOJ’s failure to release *all* those Epstein files by the deadline Congress set.
During an interview on MSNOW’s ‘Morning Joe,’ Khanna said Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is ready to “lead” this effort if it moves forward. Khanna added, “There are a few Republicans who are on board with it.” But he also made it clear that impeachment isn’t the immediate next step. Congress would likely hold her in contempt first to crank up the pressure on Bondi and the DOJ.
