Warren Moon: Stefon Diggs Has Baggage After Patriots Cut

When the New England Patriots released Stefon Diggs, fans were buzzing. Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon says the move wasn’t a shock.Moon told TMZ the Patriots’ decision was a mix of on‑field production, salary‑cap math, and Stefon Diggs’ recent legal situation.

Moon pointed out that Diggs carries some baggage, and his production dipped in the latter half of the season.

Diggs recently pleaded not guilty to felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery. The case is still open, and it’s unclear if it directly influenced the Patriots’ call.

On the field, Diggs still showed out in his only season with the Pats. The 32‑year‑old started all 17 games, hauling in 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four TDs, leading the team’s receiving corps.

Moon also pointed out the cap space angle. Diggs was about to hit a pricey part of his three‑year deal.

“Salary cap wise, they can probably use that money to upgrade the position,” Moon said. He added, “I think he’ll find a new team.”
