Wilberforce University’s Hounds of Sound just made a major move, landing a feature in GloRilla’s new music video for “MARCH.” If you follow HBCU culture, you know this is more than just a background gig. It’s a national debut for a band program that is barely four years old.
This moment is what their director, Dr. Virgil Goodwine, calls a “cultural stamp.” The band didn’t just show up to play. They were part of the production, learning choreography and working on set with GloRilla and her team. This was a hands-on experience in the entertainment industry, giving students direct insight into how major productions work.
For the Hounds of Sound, a program that started in 2021, this feature pushes them into a new level of visibility. It puts them in the conversation with legendary HBCU band programs, creating a direct path to more recruitment, scholarships, and performance invitations.
They’re not just marching on the field; they’re marching our culture straight to the front.
