Philadelphia actor and poet Jaylene Clark Owens has released her children’s book, A Black Girl and Her Braids. Adapted from her viral poem, the book celebrates the beauty, cultural connection, and enduring strength found in Black girls and their braids.

As the skinification of hair has become more popular, attention has turned to our sometimes itchy and at times flaky, scalps. I have completely neglected the skin on my head and it’s had an awful impact on the health of my hair.

Albinism affects people worldwide, bringing unique challenges and beauty. Advocates like Iyana LeShea and organizations like NOAH and the Global Albinism Alliance are working to raise awareness, celebrate differences, and support the albinism community.
