Wiz Khalifa has reportedly been placed on the Romanian Police’s wanted persons list after a drug possession case stemming from a 2024 festival appearance came to a head. The rapper was sentenced to nine months in prison for possession of risk drugs for personal use.
In 2024, Wiz was in Costinești, a resort town on Romania’s Black Sea coast, to perform at a festival. Authorities say the artist smoked a cannabis cigarette on stage and later found 18 grams of cannabis in his possession during a search. It’s a moment that sparked serious legal consequences for the hip hop biography being written in real time. Wiz Khalifa has long made cannabis part of his public brand, so the incident felt like a clash between personal expression and international law.
In February, the Constanța Court of Appeal rejected the rapper’s annulment appeal, making the ruling final. The court also denied his request to suspend the execution of the sentence, according to Romanian Insider. Romanian Police have since added the performer to their wanted list under an arrest warrant for “drug-related offenses,” calling the conviction a “possession of risk drugs without authorization for personal consumption.”
Wiz, known for hits including “Black and Yellow” and “See You Again,” apologized to his fans soon after his arrest. The statement showed a moment of cultural meditation on his choices. “Last nights show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a– joint next time,” he wrote on social media at the time.
