The influencer community is sending love and light as we mourn the loss of Dominican content creator Ariela “La Langosta”, who has transitioned. Ariela, known for her unapologetic personality, killer fashion sense, and her bond with rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, cultivated a huge following on Instagram, connecting with over 556,000 fans. She was a whole vibe.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Manhattan lounge Ikon New York, where Ariela shined, confirmed she was “at work” the night before her passing on August 17. The venue paused operations temporarily until August 21 to honor her memory.
Ikon New York beautifully expressed their tribute:
“You were our smile, our happiness. Thank you for giving so much love and support to our home. We love you and we will miss you forever.”
Tekashi 6ix9ine also paid tribute to his friend on Instagram Stories, crowning her the “queen of New York” and writing, “NY won’t ever be the same. I loved you.”
Other NYC nightlife mainstays also remembered Ariela. Starlets of New York in Queens described her as a “beautiful friend, loving mother, and daughter whose smile and energy lit up every room she entered.” What a legacy.
