Cardi B and Offset set aside their contentious divorce proceedings for a day to celebrate two of their children’s birthdays together. The estranged spouses reunited Saturday for a joint birthday bash, putting their public disputes on hold for the kids.
Son Wave turned 5 on Friday, and daughter Blossom celebrates her second birthday Monday. Both parents showed up for the occasion, which speaks to their ability to keep things cordial when it comes to their children, despite the messiness playing out in the courts and on social media.
The celebration was lavish. Disney and Sonic the Hedgehog decorations covered the venue, alongside balloon arches, carnival games, and a full bar. Cardi fully embraced the theme, dressing as Minnie Mouse for the occasion.
Both parents shared clips from the party on their social media. Offset posted video of Wave dancing with cotton candy, while Cardi B shared plenty of her own footage. Notably, neither posted photos together at the event, keeping their separate appearances even while under the same roof.
One highlight that caught attention was the Chipotle stand set up for the kids. Cardi joked about it, reminding fans that she’d previously mentioned wanting one at her wedding. “I ain’t getting married no time soon,” she said, so the kids got it at their party instead. The comment was a lighthearted nod to her uncertain future with Offset.
Despite their obvious separation, Cardi and Offset remain legally married. She filed for divorce a second time in August 2024, marking an ongoing pattern in their relationship.
Offset later requested joint custody of their three children. The divorce proceedings have escalated since then, with both parties taking public shots at each other through social media and in interviews. What started as a split has grown into a full-blown public battle.
This isn’t the first time they’ve managed to set aside their differences for the children’s sake. They showed up together for Wave’s birthday in 2024 while their divorce was already in motion, proving they have some ability to compartmentalize their personal conflict when it involves the kids.
So while marriage may be off the table, at least the kids know they can count on their parents to show up, full Minnie Mouse costume and all.
