Carlos King Addresses False Allegation About Kandi

Real Housewives of Atlanta producer Carlos King is setting the record straight once again. He’s shutting down the old rumor about whether he started the false drug allegation involving Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker. King felt the need to speak publicly because people were beginning to believe he was the source—and that wasn’t sitting right with him.

“For the sake of my reputation in the business, I had to say something about it,” King shared on the After the Edit podcast. He explained that Real Housewives of Atlanta fans took the rumor as fact when social media started buzzing about it. The whole thing became tied to one of the franchise’s most controversial storylines ever.

Phaedra Parks eventually admitted the truth: she had spread a false allegation claiming that Kandi and Todd intended to drug Porsha Williams and take advantage of her. It was wild, and the damage stuck around for years.

Carlos made it clear he wasn’t the one who started this mess. He said Andy Cohen actually reached out to him as the backlash was happening. “He gave me some great advice,” King reflected, and he appreciated how the network handled addressing the situation. Sometimes protecting your name means speaking up, and that’s exactly what he did.

“I had to make sure that I was protecting myself in the process,” King explained. “I have no regrets doing that.”

The scandal continued to haunt Kandi long after the truth came out. Back in 2017, she wrote that she was “still dealing with trolls” who kept repeating the false claim. It’s a reminder of how damaging misinformation can be, especially in spaces where cultural narratives matter deeply. Following her exit from the show, Phaedra has returned, but the relationship between her and Kandi appears permanently fractured. During her time on the show, Kandi made it clear she would leave if Phaedra was ever allowed back.
