Chad Johnson made it clear — loyalty meant more than a paycheck when he decided to stand by Shannon Sharpe through one of the toughest years yet.
In a recent chat with Front Office Sports, the former NFL wide receiver (you might remember him as Ochocinco) talked about why he kept co-hosting the Nightcap podcast with Sharpe, even after a lawsuit threw a major curveball at a lucrative opportunity. Chad Johnson wasn’t going anywhere.
Apparently, Sharpe was close to sealing a media deal worth over $100 million tied to his Shay Shay Media brand — until a sexual assault lawsuit filed in April 2025 derailed everything. Sharpe denied the allegations, and the case was eventually settled and dismissed.
Despite all that noise, Johnson said it never crossed his mind to walk away from the show, even though he could’ve benefited from that potential payday.

“It was an easy decision for me,” Johnson said. “We all make mistakes in life.”
He doubled down on what loyalty actually means — staying committed to the partnership even when things get messy. “Who the hell am I to say, ‘Oh my goodness, Shannon messed up, you know what, I’m gonna kick rocks?’ That’s not what loyalty is.”
Bottom line? “I agreed to do a show with Shannon Sharpe, come hell or high water.”
Nightcap keeps dropping multiple episodes each week on YouTube.
