“I don’t go to weddings or funerals,” Barkley said straight up. He explained that it wasn’t personal—he genuinely respects Travis and his brother Jason. He even mentioned that meeting Swift one time left a real impression on him, and getting that invitation felt meaningful.

The Hall of Famer admitted the scale of the whole event played a role in his decision. “I politely declined because I thought it was going to be a crap show,” he explained. “I just want to hang out and play golf, and I don’t want to dress up and all that other stuff.” He added with warmth, “But I appreciate the invitation; it was pretty special.”
