ESSENCE Festival of Culture is shaping up to be one of this summer’s biggest celebrations of Black music, legacy, and creativity, with a newly expanded Evening Concert Series that brings together icons, hitmakers, and rising talent in New Orleans from July 3 through July 5 at the Caesars Superdome.
This year’s lineup adds Babyface and Leon Thomas to an already stacked roster that includes Cardi B, Latto, Kehlani, Patti LaBelle, Brandy, Monica, Public Enemy, and George Clinton with Parliament-Funkadelic. The weekend is designed to move across generations and genres, giving fans a mix of current stars and foundational voices who helped define the sound of Black music across decades.
Friday night leans into a more contemporary feel, spotlighting artists like Cardi B, Latto, Kehlani, and SZN4. Saturday shifts toward R&B lovers, with Brandy and Monica sharing the stage in one of the weekend’s most anticipated moments, while Patti LaBelle, Josh Levi, and Leon Thomas add even more depth to the night. Sunday closes things out with a strong legacy focus as Babyface, Public Enemy, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, and Doug E. Fresh bring a historic energy to the final stretch of performances.
Beyond the concerts, the festival’s daytime programming continues to be a major draw. The convention center experience will once again include food, beauty, film, books, entrepreneurship, and shopping through activations like the ESSENCE Food & Wine Festival, BEAUTYCON, AFROPUNK BLKTOPIA, the ESSENCE Film Festival, and more. That mix of culture and commerce is part of what keeps the event feeling bigger than a music festival.
What makes ESSENCE Festival of Culture stand out is how it continues to create space for Black audiences to celebrate where the culture has been, where it is now, and where it’s headed next. It is not just about who is performing, but about the full experience of seeing Black artistry, business, beauty, and community centered on a massive stage.
