The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated the best on television with stunning fashion on the blue carpet. From Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe's power couple style to Zendaya's bejeweled gown and pixie cut, the night showcased incredible Black talent. Ayo Edebiri wore a soft blue front with bold red back, while Colman Domingo took risks with a Nehru jacket and purple sash. Sheryl Lee Ralph stunned in a strapless column gown, and Niecy Nash-Betts commanded attention in a bold red mermaid dress. Quinta Brunson wore a gold slip dress, and Tyler James Williams looked sharp in grey and black. LL Cool J stopped traffic in all black, while Tiffany Haddish impressed in a green floor-length gown with a chic bob. Other highlights included Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's grey tuxedo jacket, Chase Infiniti's beaded mermaid gown, and Adrian Dev's embellished jacket bringing major bling to the evening.

Some of the biggest names in music, television, film and sports are celebrating their big 5-0 in 2026, and quite a few of them have us questioning how that's even possible. From the voices behind songs we still have in rotation to actors who have been on our screens for decades, this year's birthday class is stacked. These days, 50 looks a lot different than it used to. These stars have Grammys, Emmys, NBA championships, classic records and unforgettable characters between them, and many are still adding new chapters to their careers.

Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Cassandra Wilson passed away in Jackson, MS, on Sept. 1. Her manager confirmed her death in a statement, saying that the singer-songwriter transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends, and her manager. In addition to 19 solo studio albums, Wilson also recorded with some of the industry's top artists, including The Roots, Wynton Marsalis and Elvis Costello. In 2001, Time called her America's Best Singer. Cassandra Wilson was 70 years old.

2025 was a tough year as we lost many Black legends we knew and loved. Now, as 2026 rolls past the halfway mark, we continue to say goodbye to even more of those who had such a tremendous impact on the culture. Although they are gone, they will never be forgotten. From actors to athletes, to politicians and more, we're honoring the Black legends we lost in 2026.

The 2026 U.S. Open is bringing more than world-class tennis to New York City. Black stars are already showing up, showing out and turning the tournament into one of the summer's biggest cultural events. Fan Week brought music, fashion, sports and entertainment to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens. Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Remy Ma, Tinashe, Jermaine Dupri and E-40 were among the familiar faces trading the red carpet for the U.S. Open's signature blue carpet for the festivities.
