Fashion Disasters at 2026 CFDA Awards

Fashion’s biggest night doesn’t always deliver. This year’s CFDA Fashion Awards certainly had its share of stunning moments, but a few of our favorite celebrities showed up looking like they’d already phoned it in. We’re not here to be harsh for no reason, but when the bar is set high, we expect everyone to bring their A-game.

Some of these looks felt safe, uninspired, or straight-up mismatched with what we know these artists are capable of delivering. Let’s break down the CFDA Fashion Awards moments that left us wanting more.

Olandria

Olandria has earned her place as a rising fashion force. We’ve watched her slay red carpet after red carpet. Which is exactly why this look caught us off guard. The black corset was impeccable, sure, but the draping and diamonds felt like a formula we’ve seen before. There was nothing here that pushed her forward or reminded us why she’s the fashion girl to watch.

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan’s fall-appropriate color palette was on point, but the silhouette felt familiar in a way that didn’t work in her favor. Yes, the dress itself is beautiful, and Megan elevates anything she wears. The problem is she’s been wearing similar shapes consistently, and her frame deserves more variety. If she’s got a body that can carry any design, why stick with what’s already proven to work?

Naomi Osaka

This one stung a little. Naomi’s fashion taste is usually impeccable, so seeing her in a polka dot dress that read more tablecloth than statement piece was disappointing. There’s clearly a story behind the choice, but the execution didn’t translate on the carpet the way it should have. We expected more sophistication.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita is stunning, no question. But this outfit missed the mark. We understand the appeal of understated elegance and the power of simplicity. That said, this particular take on minimalism felt flat. Sometimes less isn’t more. Sometimes less is just less.

Shaboozey

We respect Shaboozey’s commitment to country style, but committing to something doesn’t mean doing it the same way every time. Look back at his Met Gala or Grammy looks from earlier this year. Those showed range and creativity. The CFDA Awards gave us neither. He’s proven he can push boundaries while staying true to his brand. This wasn’t that moment.
