His & Hers: Tessa Thompson & Bernthal Thriller on Netflix

Netflix is gearing up to drop “His & Hers,” a limited series that promises to keep us on the edge of our seats. This intense psychological thriller, adapted from Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel, is hitting screens globally on Thursday, January 8. Get ready for six episodes of truth, memory, and straight-up deception, starring the amazing Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal.

William Oldroyd, the visionary director behind “Eileen” and “Lady Macbeth,” is at the helm, bringing a dark, sensual, and layered vibe to this tangled tale. It’s all about two people connected by a murder, but worlds apart because of their secrets. And let’s give it up for Thompson, who’s not just starring but also executive producing, flexing her power both in front of and behind the camera.

“His & Hers” is set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, with Thompson playing Anna, a former news anchor whose career hit a snag after some personal drama. When a mysterious murder pops off in her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, she’s all in on finding the truth. But her investigation gets the attention of Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal), who’s got his own murky connection to the case.

The tagline says it all: “There are two sides to every story: His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying.”

True to Feeney’s style, expect unreliable narrators, plot twists that’ll make your head spin, and a sharp look at gender, perception, and power. The Southern backdrop adds that extra layer of heat and tension, making Atlanta a character in its own right.

Behind the scenes, the talent is stacked. Dee Johnson (“Fellow Travelers,” “The Good Wife”) is co-showrunner, executive producer, and writer, alongside Bill Dubuque (“Ozark”), who’s also executive producing and writing. And the producing dream team includes Kristen Campo, Jessica Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, and Kishori Rajan.

The supporting cast is just as fire, with Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Marin Ireland, and Poppy Liu all bringing their dynamic energy.

If you’re into “Gone Girl” or “The Undoing,” “His & Hers” is about to become your new obsession. With Tessa Thompson leading the way, this series brings the glam of prestige TV and the thrill of a mystery that just won’t quit.

With its powerhouse team and Southern Gothic vibes, “His & Hers” is definitely one of Netflix’s most anticipated series of 2025. January 8th is the date, fam. Get ready for passion, lies, and memories that aren’t always what they seem.
