The Insecure reunion tour just got cancelled, and honestly, the timing is wild. Issa Rae and the crew—Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, and former showrunner Prentice Penny—dropped a video announcement just days before the 13-city run was supposed to kick off. They’re blaming scheduling conflicts, but real talk? It sounds like everybody’s just booked and busy.
“We are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are also bummed. I’m serious,” Penny said in the video. “But everybody started working, which is good.” Rae added that the team didn’t want to hit the road without everyone present. “Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up,” she explained. “But we only wanted to do this if we could all be there and give you the best experience possible.” It’s that commitment to quality that made Insecure reunion tour so meaningful to fans in the first place.
The cancellation comes after former cast member Amanda Seales—who played Tiffany DuBois—publicly addressed her absence from the lineup. She came with a whole statement about respecting creative work and having her own Hollywood journey. “I have nothing but respect for the ability to get something from your mind onto the page and onto the screen,” she said. “Someone said I’m jealous of Issa Rae because she has the Hollywood career, the Hollywood friends and the marriage. Baby, if that is what she desires, bless her. I have had a Hollywood career.”
The tour was set to launch September 10 in Philadelphia, rolling through Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Houston, and beyond. But don’t worry—there’s still one moment to look forward to. The October 8 anniversary event at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California is still happening. So if you’ve been wanting that Insecure nostalgia, mark your calendar for that one.
