Jennifer Lopez opened up on the SmartLess podcast about a frightening episode during the filming of her movie Enough. The pop icon got real about burnout and what it means when your body finally says enough is enough.
Lopez revealed she didn’t realize how depleted she’d become. Jennifer Lopez shared that she had “worked like 98 days in a row without taking a day off” while filming the thriller. That kind of relentless schedule would exhaust anyone.
Walking to set became anxiety-inducing. “Every time I walk to the set, I start getting a little pitter-patter in my heart; it’s like rising,” she explained. She even tried mentioning it to a younger actress on set, saying, “I’m sorry, sweetie, I feel a little weird today.”
Things escalated quickly inside her trailer, though. “I sat down, and all of a sudden, like, I just couldn’t see,” Lopez recalled. “I couldn’t move.” She told her assistant and childhood friend Arlene what was happening, and they rushed her to the hospital.
At the hospital, Lopez was worried she was losing her mind. “Am I going crazy?” she asked the doctor. His response was reassuring but sobering: “No. You’re not crazy.” The doctor explained that her body had essentially “shut down” from sheer exhaustion—a powerful reminder that rest isn’t luxury, it’s necessity. Whether you’re managing a demanding career or juggling multiple responsibilities at home, taking time for cultural meditation and self-care is essential. Consider meal prep containers to simplify your routine, or invest in quality nonstick cookware set options that make cooking feel less like a chore. Even small moments—like enjoying a cold brew or portable espresso—can be grounding during stressful seasons.
