During the December 17 episode of Evelyn and her daughter Shaniece Hairston’s ‘Drop the Lo Podcast,’ Gilbert Arenas candidly discussed the hefty child support he owed to Laura Govan. This conversation definitely stirred the pot!
For those keeping score, Gilbert and Laura share four children: Izela Arenas (19), Alijah Arenas (18), Hamiley Arenas (16), and Aloni Arenas (14). Gilbert also has another daughter, Gia Arenas (11), with his ex-girlfriend Lindsey Faulk.
Gilbert Arenas Claimed Monthly Child Support for Four Kids Reached a Staggering $244,000
During the podcast chat, Arenas brought up his child support obligations. Evelyn quickly jumped in, using his comment to segue into his famously high monthly payments. He claimed they once hit an astonishing $244,000.
A 6-minute clip of that conversation quickly went viral. In it, Arenas dove deep into how different states handle child support. He even went so far as to claim California and New York “hate” men when it comes to these cases, before sharing his personal experience.
He detailed, “In my battle, the number was 244. So, 244,000 a month. I was offering a nice little 20 and we’re good. They laughed at that dub, like, ‘N***a, please.’ That’s what the court battle was about at the time.” He clarified that this figure was his monthly obligation for their four children.
Beyond that, Arenas stated he was also footing the bill for “school, the house, and nannies.” He explained that after he retired, his income naturally decreased. Consequently, his monthly support payment, which had been $44,000, plummeted to just $7,000.

Unsurprisingly, these revelations didn’t sit well with Arenas’ children’s mother, Laura Govan, who quickly went “nuclear” on both him and Evelyn. Taking to her Instagram Story on Friday, December 19, Govan’s initial jab read, “It was more like 244 – D O L L A R S with NO added zeros.” But she wasn’t done yet:
“It’s kind of funny how this lady dun ran thru EVERY Big 3, but got so much to say about ME!!! Let’s see … R&B. MLB. NBA NFL. RAP. ABC. NBC. BET. MTV. HOV. GOTTA STD. MAYBE EVEN HIV. ALL IN THE BACK OF A CAR. BUT GOT THE AUDUCITY [sic] TO ASK ABOUT ME! Let’s keep it cute, GOOFY.”
In a series of three scorching follow-up posts, Govan continued her tirade:
“Here a truth! EVERY CHICK CORNY GIL HAS INTERVIEWED WITH HE has SLEPT WITH! Fun facts … GOOFY AN.
You better LEAVE ME ALONE BRO, I GOT REAL FACTS! You should be worrying about our children instead of ALL THE LIES YOU TELL!!! I’m real F’N sick of you N your story telling …
