Lizzo: Promoting ‘B*tch’ Album Is Harder Than Ever

music industry challenges are real, and Lizzo is bringing receipts. The Grammy-winning artist recently opened up about how social media algorithms are directly impacting album sales—and honestly, it’s a conversation we all need to hear.

During a livestream discussing her upcoming album B*tch, Lizzo broke down the frustration of trying to reach fans in 2026. She explained that even with direct access to her supporters, the algorithm makes it nearly impossible to guarantee visibility. “Ever since the algorithm has been showing us things out of order, baby, there’s no way to successfully promote your album where everyone knows your album is coming,” she said. For artists trying to build momentum and create that collective energy around a release, it’s becoming a losing game.

What hit hardest? Lizzo’s revelation about her private fan page with over 280K followers who actively choose to support her. Yet even with that dedicated community, algorithmic barriers keep her posts from reaching them consistently. “I have a private page with over 280K people who follow me because they support me, because they love me. Even when I post on that page, I’m not hitting their algorithm,” she shared.

The reality is tough: talented artists with massive viral moments aren’t seeing album sales that match their social media presence. It’s creating a disconnect where fans genuinely want to support their favorite creators but don’t even know when music industry drops are happening. Lizzo acknowledged her own stability as an established artist, but she’s calling out the bigger issue here. “Fans are not even aware that their favorite artist is releasing music, and they’re doing everything they need to do to keep up with their favorite artists. They follow them. Something has got to give about this,” she emphasized.

While she remains optimistic about her loyal fanbase and her platform, Lizzo’s message is clear: the current system isn’t working for anyone trying to connect authentically with audiences. Her album B*tch drops June 5—and now you know.
