In a revealing new interview, Lizzo is getting candid about a major personal milestone – losing her virginity. The chart-topping artist, who made history as the first woman to win Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Urban Contemporary Album, and Best Traditional R&B Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards, says she intentionally waited until after that career-defining moment to take that step.

Lizzo opened up about her decision in an interview with Vanity Fair, explaining that she wanted to make sure she was emotionally ready before becoming intimate with someone.

“I was a virgin until after the Grammys in 2020,” Lizzo revealed. “I was like, ‘I’m not going to have sex until after the Grammys because I wanna be the moment, and I wanna be the woman.'” The 32-year-old singer added that she felt it was important to celebrate her accomplishments and bask in the glory of her historic wins before entering into a new chapter of her life.

Lizzo has been open about her journey of self-love and body positivity, and this personal revelation is another example of how she’s embracing her sexuality on her own terms. The “Juice” hitmaker said she wanted to make sure she was mentally and emotionally prepared before taking that step, rather than rushing into it.

“I felt like I needed to take care of myself and love myself first before I shared my body with somebody else,” she explained. Lizzo has been vocal about her struggles with body image and the importance of self-acceptance, so it’s no surprise that she approached this milestone with that same intentionality.

The global superstar has also been advocating for greater representation and inclusivity in the music industry and beyond. From her powerful performances to her inspiring social media presence, Lizzo continues to use her platform to empower Black women and challenge societal beauty standards.

As Lizzo continues to dominate the music scene and inspire millions, her latest revelation about her personal life is a reminder that she’s in control of her own narrative. Black Cosmopolitans, we stan a self-assured, boundary-pushing queen!
