New details surrounding serious allegations against Meghan Markle‘s father continue to emerge, painting a troubling picture as authorities investigate. According to reporting from the UK’s The Times, Meghan Markle received a letter nearly a decade ago from her father’s ex-wife, Roslyn Loveless, detailing allegations about his conduct and warning that he could pose a security threat to the Duchess and Prince Harry.
Loveless first contacted London’s Metropolitan Police and the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC)—a joint police and mental health unit responsible for evaluating risks to public figures and members of the Royal Family. She then forwarded the letter to the Duke and Duchess’ office.
What followed was a bureaucratic mishap that raises fresh questions about how seriously the matter was handled initially. The Met lost the letter entirely, forcing authorities to request a copy directly from Markle in order to launch a formal investigation. According to The Telegraph, Loveless had alleged that Markle Sr. frequently traveled to the Philippines and Thailand, making claims about his intentions that prompted her to describe him as “a high risk to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and to Doria Ragland.”
The allegations surfaced publicly after Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., contacted Philippine authorities. He reported discovering images and videos depicting child sexual abuse on their father’s devices at his former residence. Markle responded to the revelations with a statement saying she was “deeply distressed” and expressed gratitude that investigators were pursuing the matter.
In her statement, the Duchess also addressed her long-standing estrangement from her father, clarifying that her decision to keep him away from her children, Archie and Lilibet, was deliberately protective. Markle Sr. has denied all allegations, dismissing them as fabrications. Philippine authorities have confirmed the investigation remains active, and the FBI has acknowledged the allegations as well.
