Mathew Knowles Breaks Silence After Tina Mention Interview

Mathew Knowles is setting the record straight after a clip from a recent interview caught the internet’s attention. The music executive, best known as the former manager of Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé’s dad, found himself at the center of some heated debate online.

During a conversation with PIX11 anchor Kendis Gibson, things got a little tense when Gibson mentioned Mathew Knowles‘s former wife, Tina Knowles. “You’ve earned your flowers,” Gibson told him. “I said the same thing to Ms. Tina Knowles.”

Mathew’s response? “What work did she put in?” That question quickly had everybody talking online.

When Gibson pointed out Tina’s work with hair and styling for Destiny’s Child, Mathew acknowledged it, but the conversation ended abruptly after he seemed to take issue with the comment about his former wife.

Speaking with Page Six afterward, Mathew clarified that the viral clip doesn’t tell the whole story and insisted his words were taken the wrong way.

“I didn’t know what he meant by that,” he explained. “That was a question, not a comment.”

Mathew also made sure to give credit where it’s due, saying Tina did way more than just hair — she handled styling and helped build the group’s iconic look. He added that the two are still cool with each other and blamed the early ending on scheduling conflicts.
