On Thursday, Jan. 9, Judge Richard Bloom confirmed Megan Thee Stallion’s restraining order against Tory Lanez. The Houston rapper’s request for the order described Lanez as a “violent and dangerous individual” with a pattern of behavior that highlights the need for the civil harassment order to protect her safety and well-being, according to Variety.
Reporter Meghann Cuniff shared live details about the order and Megan’s words during a video call in the Los Angeles courtroom on X (formerly Twitter). Cuniff explained that the Houston rapper appeared emotional during the call and expressed fear about what might happen once Lanez is released.
“The court does believe that the facts in this matter show both unlawful violence, a threat of violence … and a willful course of conduct that seriously harasses the petitioner and serves no legitimate purpose. I’m signing the order at this time,” Judge Bloom says,” Cuniff shared via X.
Additionally, Cuniff revealed that Tory won’t be eligible for parole until September 2029 as he is serving a 10-year sentence. The restraining order will remain in effect until January 9, 2030.

Tory Lanez Lawyer Argues Against Megan’s Protection Order As She Outlines Its Necessity
Before the judge granted Megan the restraining order, Tory Lanez’s lawyer, Michael Hayden, argued against it. Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon also shared on X that Hayden argued the restraining order. Hayden noted that it would be unfair, and Lanez has no intention of reaching out to Megan.
