Michael Jackson was married two times. According to his bodyguard, he had deep admiration for Beyoncé and wished their paths could’ve led somewhere different.
Michael Jackson was married twice but never, to his chagrin, to Beyoncé. According to Jackson’s former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, the pop star sought out Beyoncé whenever he could. He said that Jackson had a serious crush on Beyoncé and would have married her if the stars aligned.
Michael Jackson Had a Crush on Beyoncé
Fiddes got to know Jackson well while working as his bodyguard and became privy to some intimate details about the icon’s heart. He claimed that Jackson had a crush on both Beyoncé and Princess Diana, two women he deeply admired from afar.
“He loved Beyoncé,” Fiddes told The Art of Dialogue. “He wanted to marry Beyoncé. Beyoncé or Princess Diana.”
Fiddes said that Jackson intentionally tried to be close to Beyoncé whenever possible. He wanted her to present him with awards and attend the same parties as him. It was his way of creating moments, however brief, with someone he admired so deeply.
“Whenever he was asked to be given an award, he would always say, ‘Well, if Beyoncé gives it, then it’s okay,'” Fiddes recalled. “And if we heard she was at a party, we would turn up. In the hope that he would catch her, you know?”
Fiddes shared a telling memory of when they went to one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legendary parties specifically because he heard Beyoncé was there. When they arrived and realized she’d already left, they immediately departed too. That kind of devotion showed just how much Jackson valued the possibility of her presence.
While nothing ever happened romantically between Jackson and Beyoncé, Fiddes said that she was genuinely a good friend to Jackson. They spoke often and maintained a real connection over the years.
“She used to call,” Fiddes said. “She was a good friend to him. She used to call all the time. But yeah, he liked Beyoncé a lot.”
