New York Comic Con (NYCC) once again shut it down, fam! Over 250,000 strong flooded Manhattanโs Javits Center, October 9โ12, transforming the city into a vibrant tapestry of all things pop culture. A-list celebs to legendary comic artists showed up and showed out, proving once again why this con is a cultural titan.
Word on the street (and from New York City Tourism + Conventions) is that NYCC injected a cool $35 million into the cityโs economy. But beyond the Benjamins, the vibe in those halls? Unmatched. Weโre talking fans from every corner of the map, celebrating comics, cosplay, TV, and film in a whirlwind weekend where fantasy straight-up met reality.
Star Power and Major Reveals
The panel lineup was a Black excellence roll call! Major studios dropped exclusive sneak peeks and trailer bombs for upcoming heat like HBOโs A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Apple TV+โs Slow Horses, Prime Videoโs Cross, FXโs Alien: Earth, Paramountโs The Running Man, Tubiโs Breaking Bear, and HBOโs IT: Welcome to Derry.
James McAvoy, Elliot Page, Sigourney Weaver, Simu Liu, Laurence Fishburne, and Bryce Dallas Howard held court on the main stage. Beloved voice actors reunited for Avatar: The Last Airbenderโs 20th anniversary, Bobโs Burgers, and Critical Role. And in a move that shows Comic Conโs reaching every corner of the culture, rapper and comic creator Post Malone chopped it up about his comic, Big Rig.
Comic Creators and Merch Madness
The show floor was packed with over 650 exhibitors slinging must-have collectibles from heavy hitters like Funko, Marvel, Bandai, and Capcom. Artist Alley was buzzing with over 500 creatorsโincluding legends like George R.R. Martin, J. Scott Campbell, Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Marjorie Liu, and Denys Cowanโreminding everyone that at the heart of NYCC is art.
Cosplay Takes the Crown
The Cosplay Central Crown Championships qualifier was a whole other level of Black creativity and skill. Say No to Scrunchies took home the gold for a next-level detailed wall clicker from The Last of Us, winning a trip to C2E2 2026. Annie Ex Machina and Akellyz rounded out the top three, with Warheart Cosplay, Honeybird Cosplay, and Rotten Artist snatching up honors across the Armor, Needlework, and FX categories.
Fandom as Community
โEvery year, we are reminded that New York Comic Con is more than a conventionโitโs a community,โ said Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio, BookCon, and Star Wars Celebration. โThe energy and passion for pop culture that fans bring to this event is palpable and what makes it so special.โ
For those who couldnโt make it in person, the biggest moments were streamed live on NYCCโs social channels and Popverse, so no one missed out.
NYCC is set to return October 8โ11, 2026, for its 20th anniversary, and itโs clear that fandom in every form is here to connect and inspire. From the panels to the cosplay, NYCC celebrated imagination and identity in a way that only New York could host.
