Nicki Minaj Defends Praising Trump on Nigeria Threat

ICYMI: Nicki Minaj jumped into political waters this weekend after praising President Donald Trump for his message about Nigeria and the ongoing violence against Christians.

Word is, Trump took to Truth Social Saturday and warned Nigeria’s government that if it doesn’t stop what he called the “slaughter” of Christians, the U.S. might pull aid. His exact words: “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet.”

Now, Nicki reposted the statement and said it made her feel “a deep sense of gratitude” for living in a country where she could worship freely. That shoutout to Trump sent social media into a frenzy. But now she’s responding to the backlash:

Many fans, especially from her LGBTQ+ base, weren’t feeling it. One longtime supporter commented:

“Nicki, as a die hard fan, who genuinely sticks besides you through every single scandal, you cozying up to this fucking loser, I might actually have to tap out. We live in a country that wants to weaponize religion so YOUR GAY FANS can be pushed into a corner and silenced.”

But Miss Minaj was not about to stay quiet. She clapped back and said:

“Imagine hearing that Christians are being MURDERED & making it about you being gay. When my home was swatted multiple times with my innocent toddler inside (with maybe 20 officers with guns drawn pointed at our home due to political corruption), you being gay couldn’t save me… Expecting someone to stay oppressed, abused, targeted, harassed & CONSISTENTLY ignored by public figures who were supposed to be helping them says more about you than it does anyone else.”

And she didn’t stop there. Nicki followed up with another post, keeping that same energy:

“I’ll advocate for you the same way that I’m advocating for MURDERED CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA. like I always have. Just remember that. Diligently. Compassionately. Just remember that part, too!!!! lol & I know you’re not a ‘die hard fan.’ Lemme think about if I wanna block you for the next 10 – 15 mins. Love you.”

Then, in another tweet, she doubled down once again: “Imagine hearing that Christians are being persecuted & not being able to have empathy for THEM b/c you are blinded by your own personal obsession with Trump. This says more about you than him, my darling. Blocked for being asleep. Naija to the world.”
