Listen, some news just makes you shake your head. A Pennsylvania man, Jonathan Gerlach, is now behind bars after investigators reportedly found over 100 human skeletal remains. This grim discovery is tied to several break-ins at a historic cemetery.
Reports confirm that the 34-year-old Jonathan Gerlach is accused of repeatedly desecrating mausoleums and gravesites at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Yeadon, PA, since last Halloween. He was caught red-handed on January 6 right at the Delaware County cemetery, allegedly carrying a bag filled with human remains, including childrenβs bones and skulls. Further searches uncovered more remains in his vehicle, and get this β over 100 more skeletal remains were later found at his home.
A Disturbing Timeline: Remains from Centuries Past to Infants
Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse didn’t mince words, calling the whole scene ‘deeply disturbing.’ He noted that some remains are ancient, possibly 200 years old, while others are alarmingly recent β one even had a pacemaker still attached.
What’s even more heartbreaking? Investigators suspect some of these remains belong to infants, maybe just months old. This news is hitting families hard, leaving them desperately seeking answers. Rouse expressed his sorrow, saying, ‘I grieve for those who are upset by this, who are going through it, who are trying to figure out if it is in fact their loved one or their child.’
The painstaking process of identifying these remains and reaching out to affected families is now underway.

Inside the Home: Truly Disturbing Details Emerge
When authorities searched Gerlachβs home, the findings were beyond unsettling. Rouse detailed the scene: ‘Some were hanging as it were. Some were pieced together. Some were skulls on a shelf.’ It paints a chilling picture, doesn’t it?
It seems these remains weren’t just stored; they were ‘collected and displayed.’ This raises serious questions about what could possibly drive such a disturbing obsession.
A Facebook Group Under the Microscope
Adding another layer to this saga, a Facebook group named ‘Human Bones and Skull Selling Group’ is now under scrutiny. While itβs not confirmed if Gerlach was buying or selling through the group, investigators did find a tagged photo of him, chillingly, holding a skull.
Currently, officials haven’t confirmed if any remains were sold or how he managed to acquire so many. This investigation is far from over.
Held on $1 Million Bail as the Investigation Unfolds
Gerlach is currently being held on $1 million bail as law enforcement works to piece together the scope of the alleged crimes.
Officials say the process of identifying remains could take significant time, as forensic teams work carefully to preserve evidence and provide closure to families.
