In a social media post, the ‘RHOC’ star called her son’s behavior ‘unacceptable’ and said it was a ‘tough learning moment’ for her family.

Jennifer Pedranti should have spent Thursday celebrating the season 20 premiere of The Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo. Instead, she was clearing up speculation about her son’s role in starting a potentially dangerous fire in their Southern California community. This situation became a tough teaching moment about wildfire safety for her entire family.

On July 9, Jennifer took to her Instagram Story to address some “rumblings” about one of her kids playing a role in a recent brush fire in Ladera Ranch. The incident sparked serious conversations about accountability and responsibility in her household.

“He and others were involved,” the Bravo star wrote. “My ex-husband and myself take this very serious. This behavior is unacceptable and we are deeply sorry to our community. This is a tough learning moment for our son and our family.”

Jennifer shares five children with her former husband, William Pedranti: Harrison, 22, Dawson, 19, Greyson, 16, Everleigh, 14, and Dominic, 12. She did not share which son was involved in starting the fire. The family is implementing real consequences and education around wildfire safety moving forward.

The Ladera Ranch blaze broke out on Tuesday. It eventually spread to seven acres, according to a Facebook update from the Orange County Fire Authority.

“We’re making great progress and stopped the spread toward homes,” OCFA Capt. Sean Doran told My News LA on July 7. “We’re looking good.”

As of July 8, the fire was under control, per a post from the OCFA on X.

‘RHOC’ star is ‘so thankful’ nobody was hurt in the fire

In her Instagram post, Jennifer said she and her family were “so thankful” that the fire did not cause any injuries or property damage. She emphasized the importance of teaching her children about the real dangers of fire, much like a meaningful cultural meditation on responsibility.

“The fire and police were absolutely amazing and gave these boys a lesson they will never forget. There were no arrests made, but consequences for their actions are being put in place,” she added.

Jennifer said that her son would be taking a fire safety course “to make sure a mistake like this never happens again.” She’s also implementing family consequences to reinforce accountability.

“There are consequences within our family and we will make sure our son learns from this accident.”

Wildfires are a serious threat in California, with 182,197 acres burned in 2025 alone, according to CalFire. That year began with the outbreak of multiple deadly and destructive fires in the Los Angeles area. The Eaton Fire burned over 14,000 acres, destroyed 9,413 structures, and caused 19 deaths. The Palisades Fire burned nearly 24,000 acres, destroyed 6,833 structures, and killed 12 people. Those fires are the second- and third-most destructive in California history, after 2018’s Camp Fire, which devastated the Northern California town of Paradise and killed 85 people.
