Stefon Diggs Charged With Strangulation, Assault, Patriots Star Denies Allegations

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has more than postseason football on his mind these days. The NFL star is now facing serious criminal charges stemming from an alleged off-field incident in Massachusetts — allegations he and his team strongly deny.

According to court records, Stefon Diggs has been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery following an alleged altercation that reportedly took place on December 2 in Dedham, Massachusetts.

The timing raised eyebrows, as the Patriots had just defeated the New York Giants 33–15 on Monday Night Football the day prior. Diggs finished that game with three catches for 26 yards.

While details surrounding the alleged incident have not been publicly released, the Patriots quickly issued a statement making their stance clear.

“The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,” the team said. “We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary.”

Diggs, 32, is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on January 23, which notably falls just two days before the AFC Championship Game, should New England advance that far.

The NFL has also acknowledged the situation, confirming it is aware of the allegations and has been in contact with the Patriots.

Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, released a firm statement rejecting the claims, calling them “unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and never investigated — because they did not occur.” Meier further alleged that the accusations stem from a financial dispute, suggesting questionable timing and motivation behind the charges.

“Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law,” Meier added.

Off the field, Diggs has remained in the headlines for his high-profile relationship with Cardi B, with the couple welcoming a child together just last month.

As the legal process unfolds, Diggs’ future — both on and off the field — now sits under intense scrutiny.
