Country music legend Dolly Parton has come to hold a special place in Black folks' hearts over the years. So it's no wonder that news of her death on Tuesday has countless folks in our community mourning the beloved country music star. Parton passed away in Nashville, though no cause of death has been determined yet. She was 80. From her signature blonde hair and dimpled smile to her glamorous persona and sweet Southern belle accent, it's easy to see why Parton captured the love and adoration of our culture.

Ted Lasso is officially back for its fourth season. While familiar characters made their grand return to the show in the premiere episode on Wednesday, there were a handful of surprising nods to Black culture that delighted fans. The first comes near the top of the show after Lasso is called into the principal's office at his preteen son Henry's school to discuss a disturbing poem he wrote. By the time he and his child's mother got there, they had to stifle their laughter while listening to the words. The joke here is their son's poem was actually him just writing down the lyrics to Public Enemy's 1988 song Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos.

Recently, rap icon Fabolous caused a stir on social media when he was spotted wearing a head-to-toe bedazzled outfit on a night out. Critics across Instagram and TikTok dubbed him "Cinderfella," while supporters argued he was ahead of the curve. The "Into You" rapper addressed the noise directly on his podcast, stating he really does not care what people think and wears whatever he wants to wear.
