Before Marcellus Wiley spent the Fourth of July in custody, a bank had accused the former NFL star of leaving a $500,000 loan unpaid. Preferred Bank filed a lawsuit in December 2025 against Wiley and his company, "Dat Dude Entertainment," according to court filings.

Deceased Rapper Coolio’s Estate Burdened With Six-Figure Financial Obligations
Coolio left behind a massive amount of debt when he died, including more than six figures owed to federal taxes. According to court documents, the estate has only $24,385.60 in a bank account but lists around $140K in state and federal taxes owed, a $173K creditor claim, and approximately $1,400 in medical bills. The rapper died on September 28, 2022, at age 59, leaving behind seven children.

Soulja Boy Faces Mounting Interest on $4 Million Ex-Girlfriend Debt
Soulja Boy's ex-girlfriend is still trying to collect a 4.2 million dollar debt from the rapper, with interest accruing at 1,165 dollars daily. She was awarded the money following a jury trial that found Soulja liable for sexual battery and infliction of emotional distress. His ex has been attempting to have his music residuals sold to satisfy the judgment.

Soulja Boy's ex-girlfriend is attempting to have his music residuals sold off to collect on a multi-million dollar judgment against him. According to court docs, a former assistant who then started a two-year romance with the rapper filed a notice announcing her intent to sell Soulja's rights to collect music residuals from Broadcast Music. She said she intends to sell to the highest bidder. Jane was awarded nearly four million dollars following a jury trial.

Blueface’s Music Royalties Diverted to Soulja Boy’s Baby Mama for Debt Settlement
Rapper Blueface's music royalties are now going to Soulja Boy's baby mama, Jackilyn Martinez, to pay off a massive debt he owes her. According to court docs, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge granted Jackilyn's request to redirect all of Blueface's royalties from ASCAP and BMI to her in order to pay off a $123K judgment. Jackilyn got a default judgment for that amount back in April 2025 after Blueface apparently blew off a lawsuit she filed against him.

Black Fathers Building Strong Communities
When preparing for fatherhood, I searched for resources and community in Chicago but found little compared to what was available to my wife. While supporting mothers remains crucial, I wondered where spaces were for fathers to prepare emotionally, discuss fears and build relationships. This led me to found Daddy Victory Club, connecting over 300 Black fathers through walks, fitness and conversations. Black fathers nationwide are organizing similar initiatives, yet these efforts remain largely invisible to institutions and media. Supporting fathers strengthens families by creating another informed, emotionally present parent.
