Before Marcellus Wiley spent the Fourth of July in custody, a bank had accused the former NFL star of leaving a $500,000 loan unpaid. The situation adds another layer to what’s already been a difficult time for the former athlete and media personality.

Preferred Bank filed a lawsuit in December 2025 against Wiley and his company, “Dat Dude Entertainment,” according to court filings. The bank claims the loan was issued in May 2023 under an agreement requiring the full balance to be repaid within a year. It’s a reminder that financial obligations don’t pause when personal crises hit. You can find more details about Marcellus Wiley and his recent troubles across various outlets.

According to the suit, Wiley received multiple extensions but still did not pay the principal or the interest the bank says had accumulated. The final deadline was reportedly pushed to December 2025.

The former athlete made headlines last week after he was arrested in Florida on July 4 and charged with domestic battery following an alleged incident involving his wife, Annemarie Wiley. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star told police that he poked her cheek and threatened to kill her, per TMZ.

Marcellus has denied the allegations against him.

Annemarie reportedly told officers she wanted him removed from their room because she was afraid he could become physical again. She said she planned to seek a divorce once she returned to Los Angeles. The situation speaks to larger conversations about safety and freedom struggle that many women face in high-profile relationships.

She has since filed to end the marriage and received a no-contact order.

Her court filing also includes an allegation that Marcellus raped her in 2012, adding another serious dimension to this unfolding story.
