Tiger Woods is heading back to court today to change his plea in a DUI case connected to his March rollover crash in Florida. The golf legend, 50, initially pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Now things are shifting in a major way.
Authorities said Woods “showed signs of impairment” after the crash on Jupiter Island and “refused a urinalysis test.” A police report found two pills later identified as hydrocodone in his pocket, though Tiger Woods denied drinking alcohol or using illegal substances. He told investigators he had taken “a few” prescription medications instead.
Following his arrest, Woods publicly acknowledged the gravity of the situation. He stepped back from the spotlight and announced he was seeking treatment. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” he wrote on X. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
The golfer later entered a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland, where he spent nearly three months before leaving in June. Court records show Woods had waived his arraignment and requested a jury trial previously, but today marks a significant turn in how he’s handling the legal proceedings.
