According to Page Six, Brother Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal, officially filed this wild case in Los Angeles Superior Court on November 7. And get this: he’s navigating the legal waters all by himself, without a lawyer.
His nine-page court filing lays out some serious accusations against Jada, though he’s also hinting at a separate lawsuit against Will. For now, he’s coming for Jada with claims of “intentionally inflicting emotional distress,” demanding $3 million. He alleges she flat-out threatened him, saying he’d “catch a bullet” or “end up missing” if he didn’t zip it about her personal affairs.
Salaam recounts a tense encounter from September 25, 2021. He says Jada, accompanied by a crew of seven, confronted him in a Calabasas hotel lobby during Will’s 53rd birthday party. The official complaint spills the tea even further:
“While in the lobby, Jada Pinkett Smith approached Plaintiff with approximately seven members of her entourage, became verbally aggressive, and threatened Plaintiff by stating that if he continued ‘telling her personal business,’ he would ‘end up missing or catch a bullet,’ and demanded he sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) ‘or else.’”
After that alleged confrontation, Salaam claims he bolted to his car, only to be followed by one of Jada’s entourage. The pursuit allegedly included more “verbal threats” thrown his way.
Will Smith’s Former ‘Best Friend Of 40 Years’ Claims Duane Martin Told He’d Have ‘Serious Problems With Jada Pinkett Smith’ If He Refused Task
The alleged threats didn’t stop there. Salaam says more started coming in right after the infamous 2022 Oscars slap, when Will Smith hit Chris Rock over a joke about his wife Jada’s alopecia. Apparently, actor Duane Martin hit him up for crisis management help. But Salaam reportedly turned down tasks he felt were “illegal, unethical, or morally compromising,” stating his conscience wouldn’t let him be part of any “cover-up or deceptive PR campaign.”
According to Salaam, Martin then allegedly warned him he’d face “serious problems with Jada if he refused to help.” Following this, Salaam says threats escalated, coming from three of Will’s associates. Things reportedly got even hotter once news broke that he was penning a tell-all memoir about his years with The Smiths.
Bilaal Salaam Accuses Will Smith’s Wife Jada Pinkett Smith Of Intentional Infliction Of Emotional Distress
Now, about that “intentional infliction of emotional distress” claim against Jada. Salaam says it all comes back to her denial to TMZ that she’d ever seen Will get intimate with men. He alleges Jada knew that was false, claiming he’d previously released a video showing Will allegedly groping actor Alfonso Ribeiro. Salaam states this allegedly happened right in front of Jada and their children, who were “visibly present,” with Will touching Ribeiro’s “penis, nipple and buttocks.”
Salaam views Jada’s denial as a calculated move to “discredit” him, making his previous statements about Will seem “inaccurate, delusional, or fabricated.” He says this caused him major public ridicule and shattered his credibility, ultimately harming his “luxury jewelry brand, Bopulent,” which once boasted endorsements from stars like Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, Jamie Foxx, and Viola Davis.
He also claims his “whistleblower” memoir, which had a $500,000 advance lined up, was pulled due to “fear and emotional collapse.” Salaam alleges that Jada’s supposed coordinated smear campaign didn’t stop there, continuing her attacks against him during an iHeartRadio show.
On the show, he alleges she “falsely stated” he “had attempted a ‘money shakedown,’ further suggesting Plaintiff engaged in criminal extortion.” Salaam also claims Jada publicly announced that she and Will planned to sue him, causing further damage to his reputation, although they never actually filed suit.
Bilaal Salaam Claims He Suffered PTSD, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Weight Gain, And More Due To Jada Pinkett Smith
Salaam’s lawsuit also details that the “personal business” he was allegedly talking about involved claims that he once walked in on Will having sex with Martin years ago. The documents assert that Jada’s comments regarding a potential lawsuit were “false, reckless, and made with malicious intent” to sway public opinion and tarnish his character.
For context, Salaam even made a cameo in Will Smith’s 2000 movie, ‘The Legend of Bagger Vance,’ and consistently refers to himself as Will’s “best friend for nearly 40 years.” He says this decades-long bond is even confirmed in Will Smith’s memoir, ‘Will,’ which mentions him by name or photograph, and through public statements by actor D.L. Hughley.
The lawsuit details Salaam’s personal toll, claiming he’s suffered from PTSD, developed high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes, and gained 100 pounds. He further alleges he was “forced into self-exile for nearly two years,” leading to the loss of a long-term romantic relationship and limited access to his children.
