The Miami Police Department confirmed Brown’s extradition to the U.S. after his initial arrest in Dubai. He landed in New Jersey before being transferred to Miami, where he’s facing trial related to a shooting earlier this year in Little Haiti. Officials say Brown’s capture ended a search that lasted over four months.
Reportedly, Miami Police spokesperson Mike Vega stated:
“Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the U.S. No date has been set for his transfer to Miami-Dade County.”
Former NFL Player Antonio Brown Accused Of Shooting Into Miami Crowd During Adin Ross Event, Claims Self-Defense During Alleged Robbery
Before his extradition, Brown went viral back in May after getting into an altercation following a boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross on May 16. Gunshots were heard during the melee, and Miami police have been looking for Brown ever since.
Brown claims he acted in self-defense, admitting he “slammed” one person’s security guard. He alleges people were targeting him and trying to rob him during the brawl and maintains he did nothing wrong. However, a warrant for Brown’s arrest was issued.
The alleged victim is identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, reportedly a former friend of Brown’s. Nantambu gained notoriety for waving a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime performance in February.
In June, Nantambu was arrested for resisting arrest and disturbing the peace. These incidents appear linked, with Brown posting about his issues with Nantambu on X:
“That guy is a fraud, liar, stalker & criminal. He was arrested in 2022 for stealing 6 figures of jewelry from me. He then showed up at my show at Rolling Loud in 2023 trying to assault me.
Then in May, he snuck into a gate at the event and came right up to me trying to steal from me and threaten my life, Media hasn’t told this story yet… instead painting a false picture of me. That night I was fighting for my life with his intentions.”
After arriving back in the U.S. from Dubai, Antonio Brown has officially returned to Miami, Florida, where he entered a not guilty plea to the charge of second-degree attempted murder involving a firearm.
Footage surfaced showing Brown in Miami after he got off a jet on his way to a hearing. Sports journalist Andy Slater shared the video, labeling it a ‘Slater Scoop.’
Brown was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Records show a $1,000 bond, but a note indicates this information may not be current.
Reportedly, Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said he’d previously filed the not guilty plea on his client’s behalf.
According to reports, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu alleges Brown snapped at him during Adin Ross’ boxing event and then tried to shoot him with a handgun. Brown maintains he was only trying to protect himself, a sentiment echoed by his attorney. Eiglarsh stated:
“Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who had previously committed criminal acts against him.”
