Taking to social media, the legend made it crystal clear — there was NO romance. “Brandy” stated, “In the late 90’s, I had a platonic friendship with rapper Shyne… we did not date,” shutting down the narrative completely. She also questioned why the story is being reshaped now, more than 20 years later, especially as Shyne continues his media run.
She went on to explain that situations like this are exactly why she’s preparing to tell her own story in her upcoming memoir, “PHASES,” where she plans to address misconceptions and speak her truth directly.
But she didn’t stop there…
Brandy also addressed the viral rant from her brother, Ray J, who recently went off on Cam’ron, Ma$e, and Shyne for discussing her name.
While she showed love, she made it clear she doesn’t support how he handled it. “I love my brother Ray J, but I don’t condone or support the messages he’s shared,” she said, emphasizing that she prefers to handle situations on her own terms.
Brandy also reminded fans that she rarely speaks out publicly — but when she does, it’s to set the record straight herself.
With her memoir PHASES set to drop March 31, it looks like this is just the beginning of her reclaiming her narrative and clearing up years of speculation.
