Rest in peace to Dolly Parton, who passed away peacefully today in Nashville at 80. She wrote "I Will Always Love You" in 1973 as a goodbye to her mentor Porter Wagoner. Elvis wanted to record it, but his manager demanded half the publishing, and Dolly turned him down. Twenty years later, Whitney Houston turned it into the biggest-selling single by a woman in history, and every dollar stayed Dolly's. Her family asks that donations be made to her Imagination Library in place of flowers.

The 24-year-old from Tondo, Manila came up writing songs in her bedroom and recording until sunrise, and now she's one of the first homegrown Filipina artists signed to a major US label. She's had the internet buzzing after her From The Block performance of 'SPEECHLESS' racked up over 16 million views on Twitter, becoming the first Filipino artist to bring the platform to the Philippines, filmed right in Tondo with an all-Filipino team whose work landed on a Times Square billboard in NYC.
