Sisqó’s Forgotten Ballad Finally Did What Thong Song Couldn’t
Everybody remembers 2000 as the year of Thong Song. But Thong Song never went No.1, it stalled at No.3. The record that actually took Sisqó to the top was this one, a ballad Montell Jordan wrote after watching Jerry Maguire. It was a late add to the album, then 26 years ago today it hit No.1 on the R&B chart and took the Hot 100 right after. His only No.1 ever. The slow song did what the anthem couldn't.
