Summer Walker is taking legal action against LVRN, her former label and management company, filing a lawsuit claiming fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. According to court records obtained by Billboard, the 2017 deal that made LVRN both her label partner and manager has become a battleground, with Walker alleging the company misappropriated funds from her touring, recording, marketing, and merchandise budgets. She’s asking a judge to void the entire agreement.

The situation has intensified into a multi-front legal war. Summer Walker moved to exit her record deal under California’s seven-year statute, but Interscope fired back on October 9th with a $50 million lawsuit claiming she still owes two of the five albums outlined in her contract. Walker’s legal team has signaled a countersuit is on the way, setting up what could be a lengthy court battle.

This moment reflects a critical conversation happening in the music industry right now—artists, particularly Black women artists, are reclaiming their power and demanding transparency from the companies managing their careers and finances. Walker’s willingness to fight in court sends a message that the days of exploitative contracts and shadowy financial dealings are being challenged. LVRN has not responded to requests for comment, but the court documents speak volumes about the real cost of early career deals that bundle management and label duties without proper checks and balances.
