Sean “Diddy” Combs is edging closer to freedom. His prison release date just got moved up again.
The music mogul will now be released on February 5, 2028, from the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, according to the Bureau of Prisons. That’s more than two weeks earlier than his previously scheduled date of February 20, 2028, which BlkCosmo reported last month.
Since his initial June 2028 release date, the timeline has shifted multiple times. The adjustments reflect various factors that can affect federal prison sentences, though the specifics behind each change aren’t always publicly disclosed.
Combs was found guilty in 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for sex trafficking purposes. Prosecutors detailed activities prosecutors called “freak offs,” in which Combs allegedly watched and recorded encounters between girlfriends and male sex workers, mostly in hotel rooms. The jury acquitted him on more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
A judge sentenced Sean “Diddy” Combs to four years and two months in federal prison, with his sentence beginning in October 2025.
His time at Fort Dix has included notable incidents. Combs was involved in an altercation with another inmate and subsequently spent time in solitary confinement as a result.
Whether the February 5 date holds remains to be seen. Federal release dates can shift based on prison conduct, behavioral programs, or other administrative decisions. For now, that’s the current target.
