As you may know, Charlie, a 31-year-old conservative commentator, was tragically shot in the neck on September 10 in Orem, Utah. This occurred during a speaking event at Utah Valley University for his organization, Turning Point USA. It’s a stark reminder of the dangers public figures sometimes face.

Law enforcement apprehended 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect just two days later. Reports indicate Robinson confessed to his father, who then turned him in.

Alleged text messages between Robinson and a roommate revealed Robinson’s dislike for Kirk. Robinson now faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice. The Utah County Attorney, Jeff Gray, has announced that prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

In a poignant moment, Erika, 36, watched an old video of Charlie, tearing up as she remembered him. She shared that their 3-year-old daughter still asks to “visit him in heaven.” During an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Erika spoke about how her children are coping with the loss of their father.

Erika, who also has a 1-year-old son with Charlie, had previously shared that she told her children their dad “went on a work trip with Jesus.” At the time, she explained, “What do you tell a 3-year-old? She’s 3. I said, ‘Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.'”

In her recent interview, Erika confirmed that her children continue to ask questions about Charlie.

“My daughter continues to ask. But it’s really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things. And I said, ‘If ever you want to talk to daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you.’ And I told her, I said, ‘You know, daddy, daddy is in heaven.’ She goes, ‘You think I could go sometime?’ I said, ‘Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.’”

Erika and Charlie Kirk’s love story began in 2018. They got engaged in December 2020 and married in May 2021. They welcomed their daughter in August 2022 and their son in May 2024. Charlie’s passing came just weeks after celebrating their daughter’s 3rd birthday.

Watching an old video of Charlie, Erika couldn’t hold back her tears. Composing herself, she mentioned it was the longest video she’d seen of him since his death. When asked if she signed up to help Charlie “on his mission to save Western civilization,” she replied, “No. I didn’t sign up for anything. I just married the love of my life.”

When asked if she felt afraid, she responded:

“What are they going to threaten me with? Going to heaven sooner to be with my husband? And I don’t say that to be reckless. I do not. I do not say that because I’m out in the streets, like, ‘Here I am. Come find me.’ That’s not at all… It’s a fearlessness that’s rooted in the understanding that I will have my day and my time. Whenever that is. When the Lord knows that…it’s…I’ve completed my mission. And I’m not afraid. Charlie wasn’t afraid either. We never lived in fear. If we did, we’d never get anything done.”
