FAA Flight Cuts: 40 Airports Face Reductions Nov 7

Word on the street is the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was prepping for a forced 10% cut to flights, impacting 40 of the busiest airports. This drastic measure, supposedly due to the then-ongoing Donald Trump administration’s government shutdown, never actually came to pass.

Back then, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy mentioned that these 40 “high-volume” airports could experience a 10% reduction in air traffic. The aim? To ease the strain caused by air traffic controller shortages. For 36 long days, controllers were supposedly working without pay during the government shutdown.

The FAA, according to reports, hadn’t formally announced which airports were in line for the cuts. But sources whispered names like Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Thankfully, the shutdown ended and flights continued as scheduled.

The rumor was that the FAA had a list of airports serving major cities, airline hubs, and heavy cargo traffic, which thankfully never went into effect.
