In Broward County, Florida, a truly disturbing incident unfolded. A woman has been charged with allegedly attempting to kidnap a 5-year-old boy from a Shell gas station. The reason? She claimed the child was “the wrong skin color” to be with his grandmother.
Law&Crime reports that this shocking event took place Tuesday morning in Deerfield Beach. The grandmother’s white Honda Pilot started smoking, forcing her to pull into the gas station. As she stood by the car, 38-year-old Ivanna Nobile approached her.
Nobile handed the grandmother an Argentinian ID, claiming the woman in the photo was her aunt. The grandmother didn’t think much of it until she saw Nobile open the rear passenger door and grab her grandson’s arm.

“Suspect Allegedly Claimed Child Was “the Wrong Color”
The situation quickly escalated when Nobile reportedly told the grandmother, “I’m taking him, this child is the wrong color to be with this woman.” The grandmother immediately stepped between her grandson and Nobile, blocking her access to the child. Multiple witnesses at the gas station watched in disbelief.
Police received a call around 9:30 a.m. about the attempted kidnapping. When officers arrived, Nobile reportedly refused to speak with them. The grandmother, who has had legal custody of her grandson since January, stated that she had never met Nobile before.
Suspect Charged After Disturbing Encounter
Authorities confirmed that Nobile has been charged with false imprisonment of a child under 13 years old and burglary. She refused to cooperate during questioning and offered no explanation for her actions.
Investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station to confirm the grandmother’s account and witness statements.
