The woman who accused Jay-Z of sexual assault in a lawsuit has recanted her allegations, stating he never raped her and they have never met. Filed as a Jane Doe case two years ago, the accuser has now walked back her claims entirely in a new court document obtained by BlkCosmo. In a formal statement, the woman acknowledged that there is “no truth” to any of her allegations. “I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone,” she wrote in court documents.
The accuser disclosed that she had “mental health conditions” prior to her legal team filing the lawsuit in December 2024. She says she saw a Facebook ad in September or October 2024 seeking potential sexual assault complainants against Sean “Diddy” Combs. The ad reportedly triggered memories of her own childhood trauma—she claims she was raped at age 13—prompting her to reach out to the AVA Law Group and connect with Texas attorney Tony Buzbee. In the original complaint, she alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy sexually assaulted her while an unnamed third celebrity watched. Her new attorney, James Blair Newman Jr., told BlkCosmo: “Mr. Carter did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him. She sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to Mr. Carter and his family.” Newman added that his client was a victim of sexual assault, but she misidentified her attacker. “She was entirely mistaken in her allegations identifying Mr. Carter, and those allegations were false,” he stated. The accuser emphasized in her statement that she made a “voluntary” decision to recant and has “received no monetary consideration, payment or financial compensation of any kind from Mr. Carter, or anyone acting on his behalf.” Jay-Z denied the allegations from the beginning. He had already been let off the hook when the accuser dropped her lawsuit against him in February 2025. The following month, Jay-Z filed his own lawsuit against Buzbee, his law firm, and Jane Doe. Given her public recantation, he’s chosen not to pursue claims against the accuser herself.
