Kehlani’s ‘Folded’ Surpasses ‘Gangsta’ as Biggest Solo Hit

The same week Kehlani‘s musical idol Brandy finally answered fan prayers by dropping a cover of her hit ‘Folded,’ K’s learned the tune’s etched a new milestone in her Hot 100 career.

Already the highest-charting hit of her career yet, ‘Folded’ is groundbreaking in the sense that it’s also her first solo top 40 hit.

Among all songs she’s credited on, however, the Cardi B-led ‘Ring‘ (which peaked at #28 in 2018) remains the highest rung she’s reached on the tally overall.

This week, ‘Folded’ was found at #34 in its 13th week of charting – a milestone for Kehlani as she’s never had an unaccompanied hit boast as long a tenancy on the all-genre chart.

Before this week, 2016’s ‘Gangsta‘ – with a 12-week run the year of its release – held the personal title for her longest-charting solo hit.

When her entire discography’s considered, however, the Cardi-led ‘Ring‘ (which charted for a whopping 20 weeks in 2018) remains her longest Hot 100 tenant.
